Welcome to your Striped Peony Tutorial by Marie Burke

This tutorial will introduce you to painting peonies and show you how to set up your palette and mix the colors needed.

I have added a quick video below showing how to transfer the traced outline image onto your watercolor paper. I add an outline image to my tutorials so that we can get straight into the painting, however if you prefer to draw your own subject first freehand, please do.

I have painted this peony in a slightly looser style, concentrating on the mixing techniques that I use and the gradual build up of layers to create depth in the textured surface pattern.
