I am a watercolour artist living and working in Somerset, England. I originally trained in applied arts and specialised in forged steel sculpture. My sculptural work dealt with abstract forms in nature but with two small children in tow it became highly impractical to lug around huge chunks of metal! so I progressed to painting realistic forms in nature instead

For many years now I have been completely addicted to watercolor painting, I love to capture the fine details of botanical and natural history painting, but I also allow myself a little creative license to add movement, style and a touch of drama to my work.

I am drawn to the effortless beauty of the natural world and fascinated by the ease of its intricate structures, this is why I like to portray my botanical subjects larger than life so that I can draw attention to the beauty and complexity of the detail that can be so easily overlooked in the blink of an eye

In executing my work I introduce periods of stillness into my daily life that allows me a space for reflection. When people see my work, I would like them to be able to experience this momentary suspension from reality and tap into a little of the awe and wonder that the natural world has on offer.

Articles about my work have been published in magazines including International Artist (June 2018) and Creative Artist (Issue 7).
