Tutorials

With my step by step tutorials you will learn the process of creating amazing botanical and natural history paintings.

Whether you’re a beginner or a professional wanting to add to your skills there is something here to suit all abilities.

When you first join you can just dive straight in and start wherever you want to, or you can follow the Beginner’s Pathway which is a course set up to help you find your feet and give you direction. It will walk you through the steps needed to fully get the most out of your membership experience, of course you can hop on and off of the Pathway whenever you want but you can always come back to it when you need to refocus or up your game!

Most of the tutorials are Botanical subjects and there will be plenty of shorter tutorials as well honing in on various aspects of Natural History painting, along with videos highlighting specific techniques and methods of watercolor painting. The length of these will vary between 10mins and 1-2 hours depending on the subject.

Tools and Materials

There are also short videos about setting up your painting area and the different materials that can be used including info on brushes, paints, paper and color charts plus lots more!

Creativity and Inspiration

Painting can be a solitary pursuit so I always find it crucial to have a stock of go-to methods to get me ‘unstuck’. Sometimes I have no idea where to start next, or maybe I have so many ideas that the overwhelm is enough to send me screaming for the hills, and some days I can’t focus for a minute never mind spend all day in the studio getting some work done.

In this part of the Members Club I will share with you my box of creative tools and methods I use to get over my mental blocks and get myself going again. You will be able to delve into a treasure chest of resources – from art journaling exercises, worksheets and planners that you can print out, to visualisation and mindfulness audios to help you to focus on what it is that you want to achieve, of course these methods can spill over into other areas of your life – but it’s all good, because after all it is a creative life that we want to live isn’t it? – not just a half hour a day!
